Steve Scott

Pastor

As a native Oklahoman, it is great to be back in our home state on mission with Jesus at FBC Woodward. My journey began in 1990, when as a 19-year-old kid I was given a copy of the Gospel of John that I could not put down. In spite of the deep conviction I was grappling with over my sin, God was faithful to draw me to Himself through the faithful teaching ministry of Southwood Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, led by Pastor Robert Haling. On August 10, 1990, while attending Falls Creek Baptist Youth Camp, the Spirit of God transformed my heart through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Three years later, God called me to be a pastor. After finishing my undergraduate studies, I attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX where I graduated in 1999. I have been serving as a pastor ever since. All glory to God! I am happily married to the love of my life, and best friend, Donya. We have two boys, Connor (22) and Carson (14) whom we had the privilege of adopting. I enjoy reading, playing golf, traveling, peanut M&M’s and spending time with my family.

As a native Idahoan it’s a pleasure to call Oklahoma my home. My walk with the Lord didn’t start until I was in my mid-thirties when I was faced with my own mortality during the first Gulf War. It was then that I knew I needed Christ and his forgiveness. So, on Oct 13, 1991, I made a profession of faith, and my life has never been the same. I spent the next 30 years in the IT world while volunteering at my local church and growing in my knowledge of Jesus Christ. Over these years I was involved in the disciplining of fellow Christians through teaching classes on spiritual gifts, Christian witnessing and new membership classes. I was also a lay pastor for 10 years in Children’s Ministry shaping young minds and hearts for the Lord. The Lord has answered my prayers allowing me to be on staff at Woodward FBC where I can continue to serve Him and His servants. I have 3 beautiful daughters, Hannah (26), Grace (24) and Sarah (21). I enjoy camping, hiking, being outdoors and traveling. Living life in every breath for the glory of God.

Receptionist

A native of northwest Oklahoma, I grew up in Shattuck and have lived most of my life in the area. I was raised in a Christian home and came to know the Lord in my late 20’s. My late husband, Johnny, and I share two wonderful children, Anthony and Brittney, and have nine beautiful grandchildren who have brought us much love and joy. My family moved to Woodward in the summer of 2000 where we immediately joined FBC Woodward and became active in all aspects of the church. My love of music naturally led me to the music ministry where I eventually became the church accompanist. I retired in 2023 from a 26 year career in public education

and joined the staff of FBC to become the front receptionist and secretary to the pastor. It is such a pleasure to work in a christian environment and with people who share a love of the Gospel. I strive to live a godly life and adhere to my favorite verse, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” - Psalm 19:14.

Worship Pastor

Music is one way we express our heart felt thanks to God for all the undeserved things He has graciously done for us. If He did nothing else we could spend eternity praising Him and it wouldn’t be enough. I was raised in a Christian home and gave my life to Christ at the age of 17. I attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Music Education. I also met the love of my life, Dawn, at college. She is a gift from God and she completes me. We moved to Woodward in 1988 where we both taught school. I loved teaching, but felt God had other plans for my life. After much prayer and soul searching I began my journey in the music ministry. I have been minister of music since 1992. 8 years bi-vocationally and full time for the past 14 years at FBC, Woodward. God has been so good to me! He’s given me a loving marriage, two beautiful daughters with great sons-in-law, the prettiest and smartest grandchildren, a wonderful extended family and fantastic friends. I’m grateful for His continued mercy and grace. It’s my desire to live for the King!

Woodward is my home; I have lived here since I was four years old. Jack of many trades is a good
description of my life. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education with an endorsement in
Early Childhood from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. “Go Rangers!” After teaching in the
Woodward Public Schools for 17 years I opened a boutique. It was a lot of fun, but very time
consuming. In May, 2017 I started my job as financial secretary at FBC Woodward and in the fall of 2024
I will be adding the title of Director of FBC Childcare Center.

My husband, Jason, and I have three children. Hattie, our oldest daughter, is married to Kana’i. She is a BSN RN at McBride Pediatric ENT in OKC. Our son, Tucker is an electrician in OKC and our youngest, Libee, will be in a sophomore at WHS. Church and family are very important to me. I love spending time with other believers growing the kingdom of God! I have attended FBC Woodward for as long as I can remember. Singing on praise team and in the choir are two of my favorite activities at church. I’m excited that I am now working at the very place I love to be.
